Tensions rise over demand for new secretary in NJP Truck Owners Association

Siliguri, 11th May: The truck owners and drivers of NJP have voiced their discontent with Manoj Pal, the Secretary of NJP Truck Owners Association, and have called for his immediate removal. In a bid to address their concerns, they have proposed the nomination of Dasharath Roy as the new secretary of the association.

The dissatisfaction among truck owners and drivers came to a head today when they decided to close the syndicate office and began setting up a temporary office in protest. Fearing a potential escalation, a substantial contingent of police from the NJP Police Station promptly arrived at the scene to ensure stability and defuse any tensions.

Following the incident, a resolution was reportedly achieved during a meeting organized by Sujay Sarkar, the President of the Trinamool Labor Organization of NJP. Speaking on behalf of the organization, Sarkar acknowledged the grievances expressed by the truck owners and drivers towards the current secretary of the NJP Truck Owners Association. He emphasized the need for a change in leadership and revealed that until a new secretary is elected through a formal process, a committee comprising seven members has been established to uphold the interests of the NJP Truck Owners Association.
