Naxalbari, 21st June: The Hatighisa area of Naxalbari is currently grappling with tension following the unfortunate demise of a man. In response to this incident, the local residents held a protest, blocking the road by setting tires ablaze in the aforementioned area on Wednesday morning.
According to reports, on Tuesday night, Sudhir Nagasia, an individual, was en route to Naxalbari Hospital accompanied by his son when they were intercepted by a young miscreant. Allegedly, Sudhir was physically assaulted by the miscreant. The locals intervened, rescuing Sudhir and rushing him to Naxalbari Hospital. However, his condition deteriorated and was transferred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Simultaneously, the family of the deceased promptly lodged a complaint at Naxalbari Police Station on the same night. This morning, the situation escalated during the protest as several houses were vandalized and set on fire. The protesters have vowed to persist with their agitation until the immediate arrest of the individuals responsible for the incident.
Upon receiving the news, the Additional Superintendent of Police, Naxalbari BDO, Arindam Mandal, Siliguri Mahakma Parishad Sabhadhipati, Arun Ghosh, and other senior officials from the administration rushed to the scene to assess the situation firsthand.
