Siliguri, 11th March: On Monday, tension gripped the area after the ABVP members encountered police obstruction during the Uttar Kanya campaign. The officials halted the ABVP members near Tinbatti More of Siliguri.
It is to be noted that the ABVP had called for the Uttar Kanya campaign to protest against the incidents of Sandeshkhali and violence against women across the state. Reportedly, when the ABVP supporters and workers tried to dismantle the police barricade, the officials resorted to baton charges. Subsequently, the protest was lifted while several ABVP workers and supporters were detained in the act.
