Siliguri, 25th June: An atmosphere of tension erupted in the Thakurnagar area adjacent to Bhabesh more surrounding the installation of a mobile tower.
It has been learned that Prabhas Sikdar, a resident of Thakurnagar, decided to install a tower in his house in 2019. However, he has been continuously obstructed by the locals. Although he stopped the construction of the tower at that time, he resumed construction work this year.
Following this, the locals started protesting demanding to stop the installation of the tower. Later, the OC of NJP Police Station Sameer Tamang and police personnel reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
The locals said that as there is a school nearby, children may fall sick due to the installation of the tower. Hence, in no way, will they allow mobile towers to be installed in their area.
