Kharibari, 16th January: In a significant breakthrough, the police successfully foiled an attempted robbery and arrested ten miscreants ahead of execution from the Indo-Nepal border at Panitanki of Kharibari. The arrested accused have been identified as Sameer Sarkar, Sahdev Adhikari, Kartik Barman, Sujan Ghosh, Manu Ghosh, Hemant Barman, Mohammad Karim, Amrit Mandal, Sanjib Das and Tapas Thakur, all residents of Siliguri, Naxalbari, and Kharibari.
According to police sources, on Monday night the ten miscreants gathered in the New Market area of Panitanki and were planning to execute a robbery. Acting on a tip-off, the police launched an operation and arrested all the accused.
Upon initiating a search, the police recovered, three crowbars, two sickles, hammers, and various other weapons from their possession. On Tuesday, the arrested accused were presented before the Siliguri Court, while the police are engaged in further investigation.
