Naxalbari, 16th August: The fair price medicine center at Naxalbari Rural Hospital has been temporarily shut down, leading to significant inconvenience for patients and their families. A notice has been put up announcing the closure, leaving those in need of affordable medication in distress.
On Friday, several people who came to buy medicines at discounted rates were forced to return empty-handed upon seeing the notice. The center, which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister in 2014, offered medicines at up to 60 percent off. The closure has sparked frustration among locals, who have urged authorities to resume the service immediately.
Speaking on the matter, Naxalbari Block Medical Officer of Health (BMOH) Dr. Kuntal Ghosh explained that the closure was due to the expiration of the service contract. He assured that the issue is being addressed and that the fair price medicine center will reopen soon.
