Temple theft in Siliguri’s Shanti Para sparks outrage, police launch probe

Siliguri, 21st May: A theft at the Shanti Para Hari Mandir under NJP Police Station has caused a stir in the local area. On Wednesday morning, local residents found the temple door broken and immediately informed the police.


According to local sources, the incident took place late at night when unidentified thieves broke into the temple. They reportedly stole several valuable brass utensils, worship materials, and donation boxes before fleeing the scene.

A local panchayat member expressed deep concern over the incident, stating that the temple is a symbol of devotion and faith for the community. He described the theft as completely unacceptable and suspected that some drug-addicted youths from the locality might be involved.


Upon receiving the information, NJP police reached the site and launched an investigation. Meanwhile, residents have demanded stricter security measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Police have assured that the culprits will be identified and arrested at the earliest.
