Teesta Burir Puja held in Fulbari

Fulbari, 06th May: The women of Paschim Dhantala Fulbari, organized the Teesta Burir Puja in accordance with the traditional culture of the Rajwanshi community. On Friday evening, the women of the area gathered together to perform this puja on the banks of the Mahananda river in Fulbari.

It is believed that during the Teesta Burir Puja, a pledge is taken to protect oneself from natural calamities and to ensure the well-being of one’s family. This religious ceremony has been a part of the Rajvanshi community for centuries and is also known as Mechini, Teesta Burir, and Bhedikheli. However, this cultural practice is gradually disappearing.

The women of Paschim Dhantala, under the Fulbari Gram Panchayat No. 02 of Rajganj, perform this puja to preserve this cultural tradition. The worship is conducted with great respect and in accordance with the old customs. The well-being of everyone, including the family, is wished for during the ceremony.
