Siliguri, 21st November: The mastermind behind the notorious gang of minor thieves in Siliguri has been successfully apprehended. The gang was operating in and around Siliguri and North Bengal, conducting burglaries by first surveying homes and then robbing empty houses. The arrested individual, identified as Vicky Balmiki, is a resident of Tikiapara.
As per the details received, Vicky had been evading the police for a long time but was finally apprehended. The arrest follows a complaint filed by Suraj Basfore, a resident of Tikiapara, regarding a burglary at his home.
On November 15, Suraj went to visit his relatives in Cooch Behar. Upon returning the next day, he discovered his house had been evaded. The door and wardrobe were damaged, and gold and silver jewelry, cash, and important documents were missing. Subsequently, Suraj filed a written complaint at the Siliguri police station on November 16.
Within 24 hours, the police arrested Vicky Balmiki for his involvement in the theft. After his arrest, stolen jewelry and several documents were recovered. DCP Rakesh Singh of Siliguri Metropolitan Police stated that the stolen goods were hidden underground at Vicky’s residence. Meanwhile, the police are on the hunt for the remaining members of the gang.
