Phansidewa, 15th May: A heart-wrenching case of suicide has emerged as a teenager jumped into the Mahananda River in the Bidhannagar Ramakrishna Palli area of Phansidewa block. The deceased, identified as 17-year-old Rupam Roy, took this extreme step following an altercation with his elder brother for arriving home late on Sunday night.
According to reports, Rupam immediately left the house in response to the scolding from his elder brother. Concerned family members initiated a search in the night, eventually discovering Rupam’s mobile phone and shoes near the banks of the Mahananda River. Upon receiving the news, the Bidhannagar police promptly arrived at the scene.
Today, in a joint effort between the disaster management team and the police, the lifeless body of the teenager was recovered from the river. The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the entire area. Subsequently, the recovered body has been sent to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for postmortem examination. The Bidhannagar police have initiated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
