Siliguri, 18th August: A teenage boy drowned while bathing in a river with his friends. The boy has been identified as Badal Barman, hailing from Ward No. 35 in Siliguri.
According to locals, the incident transpired on a Friday morning when the teen, accompanied by his friends, ventured to the river situated near the railway bridge of Sahudangi’s Adhikar Pally for a leisurely bath. Tragedy struck as Badal Barman found himself ensnared by a pillar beneath the said bridge. Despite his brave efforts to extricate himself, he remained trapped.
Panicked by the dire situation, his friends urgently called for assistance. Responding to their, locals swiftly arrived at the scene and launched a rescue operation. Eventually, they managed to free the struggling teen from the clutches of the river’s grip. The authorities from the Ambari Police Outpost also promptly arrived and took the victim to the hospital.
