Rajganj, 29th March: Sensation prevailed after a joint operation of Belakoba Range and Siliguri Special Task Force recovered teak wood worth Rs 50 lakh. A person has been arrested in the said incident.
Reportedly, a container was intercepted by forest personnel on Wednesday morning by conducting a campaign in the Rani Nagar area of Jalpaiguri adjacent to the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway. While conducting the search, teak wood worth Rs 50 lakh was recovered. The container’s driver identified as Ajit, a resident of Haryana has been arrested in the said incident.
According to Forest Department sources, teak wood worth Rs 50 lakh has been seized in the said joint operation by Belakoba Range and Siliguri STF. The timber was being transported from Guwahati to Kolkata. On the other hand, the arrested will be produced in the Jalpaiguri district court tomorrow.
