Siliguri, 05th September: Every year, September 05 is celebrated as Teacher’s Day in the country to honour the immense contribution of teachers. The day also marks the birth anniversary of former President Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Likewise, a function was held in Nilnalini Vidyamandir High School, today where the retired teachers and educators were felicitated. On this occasion, Chairman of Board of Administrators of Siliguri Municipal Corporation Goutam Deb, Darjeeling District Magistrate S. Ponnambalam, member of Board of Administrators Ranjan Sarkar and others were present as the chief guests.
Goutam Deb paid homage by garlanding the idol of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan in front of the school. Following this, he inaugurated the programme by lighting a lamp and offering flowers to the portrait of Dr Radhakrishnan.
Addressing the gathering, BoA member Ranjan Sarkar said that the way the students and teachers are working together through pandemic is commendable and inspiring. “The Chief Minister has announced that arrangements will be made to open the school very soon,” Sarkar added.
Furthermore, during the programme, Merry View Tea Estate Primary School was felecitated with the Highest Admission in 2021 by the Siliguri Primary School Council.
