Siliguri, 12th July: In response to skyrocketing vegetable prices, the task force conducted raids in various markets across Siliguri following the directives of Chief Minister (CM) Mamata Banerjee.
The operation took place on Friday morning, targeting several retail markets including the Bagrakote wholesale market, Subhas Pally, and Ghogomali. During the raid at Subhas Pally market, officials observed that nearly every vegetable was being sold at significantly inflated prices.
Officials have started registering the names of traders found selling vegetables at prices much higher than the wholesale rates. The market price for each trader is now fixed, and those who fail to comply will face legal action, stated the task force officials.
