Siliguri, 25th November: The task force has initiated a strict monitoring drive in Siliguri markets to address the rising prices of potatoes and onions. The surge in vegetable prices at the onset of winter has caused significant distress for consumers.
Reports indicate that potato prices have climbed above ₹30 per kilogram in several districts of the state, while onion prices have crossed ₹50 per kilogram. In response, task force officials visited key markets in Siliguri on Monday, including the Siliguri Regulated Market and Bidhan Market, to curb price increases.
During their visit, officials interacted with vegetable sellers and buyers, instructing sellers to maintain potato prices at ₹30 per kilogram and onion prices at ₹50 per kilogram.
Furthermore, sellers have been directed to retain bills reflecting the wholesale prices at which they are purchasing the vegetables.
