Fulbari, 30th November: A petrol tanker overturned after losing control on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway near Jiaganj in Fulbari on Sunday morning.
The tanker, travelling from Siliguri towards Jalpaiguri, suddenly veered off the road and fell into a roadside ditch, creating panic in the locality. Police from New Jalpaiguri station reached the spot soon after, as the tanker was carrying a large quantity of petrol, posing a fire risk. Two fire engines from Fulbari were deployed to control the situation.
The driver sustained minor injuries, while a section of the highway experienced traffic congestion. Police are currently working to remove the vehicle from the ditch.
