Siliguri, 26th August: Goutam Deb, the Mayor of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, introduced an innovative platform, “Talk to Mayor,” aimed at addressing the concerns of the local residents. After the 50th episode of the program on Saturday, the Mayor unveiled a comprehensive report card to share the progress achieved.
Over a span of 50 days, the Mayor actively engaged with the community by answering approximately 1110 phone calls. His dedication to resolving the issues brought forward by the citizens has yielded promising outcomes. Mayor Deb expressed his satisfaction in successfully resolving a majority of the raised concerns.
During the event, the Mayor presented a detailed report spanning from March 12, 2022, to August 19, 2023. The report documented a total of 1097 issues that were brought to the forefront by the residents. The issues encompassed a wide range of subjects, including matters related to birth and death certificates, availability of drinking water, drainage systems, illegal constructions, road maintenance, and environmental health. Among these concerns, an impressive 81 percent of the problems have been effectively resolved, showcasing the tangible impact of the “Talk to Mayor” initiative.
Mayor Deb expressed his commitment to addressing the remaining 19 percent of the issues, which are currently under review. These unresolved matters will be scrutinized closely to ensure that they too receive the necessary attention and resolution.
