Siliguri, 18th November: Siliguri has become linked to the unfolding ‘Tab Scam’ as the Lal Bazar Intelligence Department arrested three individuals from the city on charges of involvement in the scam.
The accused have been identified as Dibakar Das, Vishal Dhali, and Gopal Roy. Dibakar Das, a school teacher and a resident of Chopra, is suspected to be the prime accused in the embezzlement of funds related to the scam. His brother Vishal Dhali, from Samar Nagar and son-in-law Gopal Roy, a resident of Pabitra Nagar, were also apprehended.
Reportedly, the three were in Samar Nagar on Sunday afternoon before heading to a shopping mall on Sevoke Road in Siliguri, where the police intercepted and arrested them.
The suspects were taken to Kolkata on Sunday night for further investigation. The incident has left their family members and neighbours in shock.
