Fulbari, 22nd December: In an incident that raised concerns, a young man complained of stomach pain after consuming eggs. Following this, the prevalence of suspected ‘plastic eggs’ caused panic among the residents of Nich Para of Kanchanbari under Fulbari II Gram Panchayat (GP), adjacent to Siliguri.
As per the information received, a young man named Ashim Biswas, a resident of the said area bought five eggs from a nearby shop on Thursday. Following this, he boiled two eggs and consumed them. During this, the young man sensed something unusual about the eggs. Shortly after consuming the eggs, Ashim encountered a stomach ache. However, after taking medicine, the pain subsided.
On Friday morning, the remaining three eggs were boiled and allegedly resembled plastic. Subsequently, he raised the issue with his neighbors, who also suspected them to be ‘plastic eggs’.
In this regard, the young man said that the yolk of the eggs was more brightly colored than usual. He added that the eggs emitted an odor of plastic upon being burnt in the fire.
Following the incident, panic gripped the area regarding the prevalence of ‘suspected plastic eggs’. The residents are of the opinion for a detailed investigation of the matter by the administration.
