Siliguri, 10th May: A tense situation prevailed in Ward No. 25 of Siliguri after an object resembling a country-made bomb was discovered in the New Milan Pally area’s PNT Colony, sparking alarm among residents.
According to reports, a teen stumbled upon the suspicious object near the Electricity Department office on Friday and promptly alerted the locals.
Upon being alerted, the cops of Siliguri police station swiftly responded to the scene, accompanied by a bomb squad team. The object was thoroughly examined, including scanning the object with a metal detector and submerging it in water for identification.
As a precautionary measure, the object was safely transported to the Mahananda River, where it was determined that the item contained a firecracker, during defusing procedures. Police have launched an investigation into the incident to ascertain its origins and purpose.
