The Supreme Court of India on Thursday ordered a stay on the earlier order passed by the West Bengal Government, banning the release of the movie, ‘The Kerala Story’ in the state.
Earlier, in this regard, on May 8, the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee, banned director Sudipta Sen’s film ‘The Kerala Story’ from being screened in the state. Subsequently, after the ban, the makers of the film approached the Supreme Court challenging the state government’s decision. Meanwhile, today, the Supreme Court, providing its judgement in favour of the filmmaker, lifted the ban paving the way for the movie to be screened in the state.
