Siliguri, 9th January: The 15th Sukna Gold Cup Football tournament will be held from 19th January and the final match will be played on 9th February, 2020. A total of 20 teams will participate in the tournament.
At a press conference at the Siliguri Journalists Club, today, Suren Pradhan (General Secretary of Sukna Games and Sports Association), Shyama Thapa of Sukna Goldcup Organizing Committee, National Footballer Renu Bhutia and many more dignitaries were present. Meanwhile, the President of Sukna Games and Sports Association, Ashok Pradhan, stated that the winning team of the tournament will be awarded a prize money of Rs 2 lakh and the runner-up team will be awarded Rs 1 lakh. The teams that will secure a 3rd and 4th position in the tournament will also be awarded.
He further informed that apart from the old teams, a few new teams will also participate in the tournament. For the first time, a team of Indian Navy will participate in the tournament. The Sukna Games and Sports Association General Secretary, Suren Pradhan, stated that priority will be provided to the players of North Bengal, this year.
