Siliguri, 23rd June: Students of different colleges in Siliguri staged a protest in front of the administrative building of North Bengal University demanding an immediate waiver of college fees.
Vishnu Paul, a member of the student committee, said that many students are living in financial crisis due to the government restrictions amid the pandemic. In this situation, even though schools/colleges are closed, the college authorities are charging fees from the students.
On the other hand, the Registrar of NBU, Dr Pranab Ghosh, said that it is not possible to waive the college fees at the moment. The matter needs to be decided with the college authorities.
Meanwhile, the students have warned to stage larger demonstrations if their demands are not met soon.
