Phansidewa, 05th March: A tragic road accident claimed the life of a school student while she was returning home after school. The incident occurred on the Ghoshpukur-Kharibari state highway in Phansidewa. The deceased student has been identified as Jacqueline JJ, a resident of Ghoshpukur and a fourth-grade student of St. Joseph School.
According to reports, the student was crossing the road after school when a lorry loaded with vegetables hit her, resulting in her death on the spot. Locals immediately chased and stopped the lorry, but the driver managed to flee the scene.
Upon receiving the information, police arrived at the spot and seized the lorry. Meanwhile, the body was recovered and sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem. The incident has left the area in mourning.
