Naxalbari, 17th March: A brief but intense storm on Monday night caused widespread damage across Naxalbari, toppling several trees and disrupting electricity in several villages. Areas including Bengaijote, Futani More, and Rathkhola were among the worst affected.
Locals reported that the storm lasted only about five minutes, yet it was powerful enough to bring down multiple trees. Five houses in Futani More, Bengaijot, were damaged when trees fell on them. In some places, walls were broken, while in others, tin roofs were blown away.
Fallen trees also tore down electric wires, leaving many areas without power since Monday night. Affected families have appealed for immediate government assistance to repair the damage and restore electricity.
