Siliguri, 04th January: Another incident of stone pelting at the newly launched ‘Vande Bharat Express’ surfaced a day after the said train from New Jalpaiguri faced a similar incident on Monday near Malda when the glass pane on a door of a coach suffered cracks owing to stone pelting. The second stone pelting incident at Vande Bharat Express happened before entering NJP station on Tuesday afternoon. In this incident, the windows of two coaches on the train have been damaged.
Stir has ensued in the railway department leading to a high-level meeting that has taken place between the officers of RPF and GRPF at NJP station on Wednesday. RPF’s Assistant Security Commandant MD Farooq attended the meeting. After the meeting, RPF’s Assistant Security Commandant MD Farooq said that a complaint has already been lodged regarding the matter and an investigation has been started into the incident.
It is to be noted, that the Indian Railways has recently launched the Vande Bharat Semi High-Speed Express train in West Bengal. The incident of stone pelting on the train has come to the fore for the second time after Vande Bharat started operating on the Howrah to New Jalpaiguri route. Earlier on Monday, stones were hurled at the train in Malda.
