Siliguri, 10th February: Bhakti Nagar Police Station’s Anti-Crime Wing recovered a stolen mobile phone and a gold ring and arrested a domestic help in connection with the theft case in Siliguri. The arrested accused has been identified as Sahiba Khatun, a resident of Vivekananda Nagar in Ward No. 42 of the city.
According to sources, a mobile phone had gone missing from a house in the area a few days ago. On Sunday, the house owner noticed that a gold ring was also missing, following which a written complaint was lodged at Bhakti Nagar police station.
After receiving the complaint, the Anti-Crime Wing of Bhakti Nagar police station initiated an investigation. During questioning, the domestic help gave inconsistent statements, raising suspicion.
Police then took her into custody for further interrogation, during which she confessed to stealing the mobile phone and the gold ring. The stolen items were later recovered from her residence.
The arrested accused, Sahiba Khatun, was produced before the Jalpaiguri court. Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
