Siliguri, 23rd July: New Jalpaiguri (NJP) police have made a significant breakthrough by recovering a stolen e-rickshaw and arresting a suspect, Biraj Barman. The e-rickshaw was reported stolen from Srinagar, adjacent to NJP, on July 10.
Following the theft, the e-vehicle’s owner, Sadhan Haldar, filed a complaint at the NJP police station after unsuccessful attempts in searching for the e-rickshaw in various locations.
Based on the complaint, police traced the stolen e-rickshaw to Das Para in Chopra. A police team subsequently recovered the vehicle in Islampur and arrested Biraj Barman, a resident of Murder More, Fulbari, in connection with the theft.
The accused was presented before the Jalpaiguri court on Tuesday. The recovered e-rickshaw has been returned to its owner, Sadhan Haldar.
