Siliguri, 10th December: Police from the Matigara police station have arrested an STF vehicle driver on charges of raping a woman.The arrested accused has been identified as Jeet Thakur.
According to the complainant, she came into contact with Jeet Thakur nearly two years ago through a friend, following which their acquaintance gradually developed and he started visiting her house. The woman alleged that on 21st October 2025, the accused came to her house suddenly and, finding her alone, forcibly raped her. She further claimed that the accused threatened to ruin her life if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
After living in fear for a long period, the woman gathered courage and filed a written complaint at the Matigara police station on Tuesday. Acting on the complaint, police initiated an investigation and arrested Jeet Thakur late on Tuesday night. He was produced in the Siliguri court on Wednesday after a case was registered against him under relevant sections of law.
Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
