Siliguri, 30th May: Despite continuous apprehensions and law enforcement efforts, smugglers are resorting to a highly cunning strategy to transport drugs leaving the authorities astounded. The smugglers utilized an ambulance to conceal their illicit cargo, placing a coffin inside, seemingly carrying a deceased individual. However, upon inspection by the Special Task Force (STF) near Siliguri’s Ambari Canal Road, a startling discovery was made.
Upon opening the ambulance door, the STF team was met not with a lifeless body, but rather a staggering 64 kilograms of cannabis concealed within the coffin. As a result, four individuals, including a woman, have been taken into custody in connection with this incident. The accused have been identified as Sameer Das (28), Apoorva Dey (54), Pappu Modak (31), and Saraswati Das (34), all hailing from Cooch Behar. The STF later handed over the accused to NJP police.
