Rajganj, 12th December: The Special Task Force (STF) and Ambari Outpost Police arrested a man with 14,400 bottles of cough syrup, on Saturday night. The arrested accused has been identified as Jagdish Singh (49), a resident of Punjab.
It has been learned that based on a tip-off, a search was carried out on a truck that was parked on the Siliguri-Jalpaiguri National Highway in the Bandhunagar area. Police recovered 14,400 bottles of cough syrup from the truck loaded with bicycle parts. The driver was arrested in the incident.
According to police sources, the cough syrup was being transported from Uttar Pradesh to Assam. The market value of the recovered cough syrup is around Rs 21 lakh. He was sent to Jalpaiguri court on Sunday.
