Siliguri, 25th December: On the occasion of Christmas, the Traffic Office at Darjeeling More and the statue of mountaineer Tenzing Norgay were inaugurated today after beautification. Chairman of the Administrative Board of Siliguri Municipal Corporation Goutam Deb said that the projects were completed at a cost of Rs 23 lakh rupees. Ranjan Sarkar, member of the Administrative Board, other officials were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
Addressing the media, Deb said that the premises where the statue of Tenzing Norgay had been installed years ago at Darjeeling More were in a very deplorable condition. Hence, lights and greenery have been added to make the spot attractive. Also, an office has been built for the traffic police personnel.
Considering Darjeeling More being one of the most important roads in the city, Deb further added that the Siliguri Municipal Corporation is working towards beautifying the point even more. Reportedly, a gate of Vishwa Bungalow is also being installed at Darjeeling More.
