Siliguri, 06th July: The skyrocketing price of petroleum products has been burning a hole in people’s pockets and has now become a political issue. While the opposition is attacking the BJP government at the Center regarding the issue, BJP’s Darjeeling district MP Raju Bista blamed the state government for the increased petrol and diesel prices in West Bengal.
The MP said that there are many reasons behind the hike in the price of petrol and diesel. Such as the fall in the current rupee value against the US dollar. Considering these elements, Bista stated that the central government wanted to bring petrol and diesel under GST, which the states strongly opposed.
Furthermore, MP Bista said that in addition to tax on petrol and diesel, the central government gives 42 percent of VAT to the state government. “If the state wants, then the price of petrol and diesel can be reduced providing a lot of relief to the general public,” he alleged.
Is he mad or just a blame game statement? He should be a bit serious regarding the price rise of oil, edible oil, daals & other various items.
