Solid Waste Management project launched at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital

Siliguri, 09th September: A new solid waste management project has been initiated at the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). The inauguration of the project was carried out by Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb, the Chairman of the Patient Welfare Committee of the Medical College, along with Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad.

The initiative aims to keep the premises of the medical college and hospital clean. The mayor highlighted that the college campus often accumulates large amounts of waste products. While clinical waste is removed by a private company, other types of waste frequently remain on the hospital grounds causing to environmental pollution.

To address this issue, the solid waste management project has been launched. The first phase of the project will cost approximately ₹40 lakhs, with the second phase estimated at around ₹44 lakhs.
