Solar street lights installed in Kharibari to tackle elephant menace following ‘Amader Para, Amader Samadhan’ camp

Kharibari, 19th December: In a community-driven initiative under the ‘Amader Para, Amader Samadhan’ camp, solar street lights are being installed in the Gagaru Jote area near Tukriajhar forest, where frequent elephant intrusions have posed a threat to residents.

Responding to appeals from local residents for safer streets, work on the installation of the lights began this week. On Friday, 10 solar street lights were inaugurated by Santana Singh, Pradhan of Raniganj Panishali Gram Panchayat.

The project, costing ₹3.13 lakh in total, will see 10 solar street lights set up across the area. After years of persistent demand, local residents have expressed relief and happiness at the newly illuminated streets, hoping it will help prevent elephant-related incidents.
