Siliguri, 23rd July: The Special Operations Group (SOG), based on a tip-off, launched operations at the Pradhan Nagar Police Station area and arrested five youths on charges of smuggling cannabis.
The arrested accused has been identified as Pinaki Das (35), Naushad Khan (22), Mohammad Abdul Rahman(22), Saddam Hussain (24), and Saroba Alam (26).
The SOG team received a tip-off that five youths were on their way to deliver cannabis to the Dhaknikata area on motorcycles and scooters. Following which, operations were launched and five people were arrested. 28 kgs of cannabis were recovered from their possession. They were then handed over to the Pradhan Nagar police.
A case has been filed against them under the NDPS Act and they were produced at Siliguri court today.
