Siliguri, 11th August: A huge quantity of banned plastic carry bags have been seized by SOG and Detective Department from a warehouse in Siliguri. The team raided the said warehouse located on Sevoke Road on Wednesday afternoon. Police suspected the banned plastic bags were sent to different markets in the city from this very warehouse.
According to the information, the police seized about 10 tonnes of plastic carry bags from the said godown. The seized article was then handed over to the Siliguri Municipal Corporation by the police. Furthermore, the SMC has assured to take stringent action against the warehouse owner. Reportedly, such raids will also be conducted in all the godowns in the city where plastic carry bags are stored.
