Siliguri, 15th December: Four members of a gang who duped people under pretext of help outside ATMs have been arrested. The four arrested are identified as Gopal Kumar (32), Richu Kumar (24), Chandan Kumar (18) and Dhananjay Kumar (28), residents of Bihar.
Reportedly, during the month of August this year, in the area under Bagdogra police station, a person was scammed of Rs 1 lakh 92 thousand under the pretext of ATM assistance. When the complaint of the matter was registered at the Bagdogra police station, the police started the investigation. During this, the police learned about the said gang from Bihar who had been carrying out such notorious scamming plans. To nab the gang, the Bagdogra police team conducted raids in Bihar as well, but could not get hold of the miscreants. Eventually, the Special Operation Group (SOG) of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police caught the gang after investigating for about four months.
The SOG team apprehended four members of the said gang from the area under NJP police station. All of them were travelling in a Bihar number vehicle. ACP Shubhendra Kumar informed about this by holding a press conference at Matigara police station on Thursday. He said that in the month of August, a person was duped lakhs of rupees under the pretext of ATM assistance in the area under Bagdogra police station. The investigation was conducted for the past month from August which succeeded finally yesterday.
Four gang members have been arrested by SOG from NJP area. The arrested accused will be produced in Siliguri court today and will be taken on remand.
