Siliguri, 12th January: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Operation Group (SOG) has successfully arrested nine members of the notorious KGF group in Siliguri. The arrested accused have been identified as Bidyut Das alias Rocky Bhai, Rajib Basak, Harmeet Singh, Armaan Modak, Anustup Majumdar, Shambhu Das, Manik Halder, Ajit Adhikari, and Raj Singh.
As per sources, about two and a half years ago, a few individuals had formed a group in the Bhakti Nagar area with no definite name at an early stage. However, after the release of the movie KGF, the group was allegedly named. The group had a dreaded impact in Siliguri’s Sevoke Road area under the Bhakti Nagar police station. Frequently, the group created an uproar and was also accused of smuggling, land grabbing, illegal liquor trade, running gambling dens, and extortion. Despite all, the group was still out of the grasp of the police
Reportedly, the high-ranking officials of Siliguri Metropolitan Police handed over the responsibility to the SOG to curb the group’s influence. Upon taking charge, the SOG initiated its course of action. Significantly, the SOG’s action prompted the group to leave its dwellings within the city. However, the group was still under the close monitoring of the SOG.
Meanwhile, the SOG received tip-off information regarding the presence of nine members of the group in the Eastern Bypass area. Promptly, the SOG launched an operation and arrested the nine members. Following the arrest, all the accused were handed over to the Bhakti Nagar police station for further course of action.
