Naxalbari, 28th September: Several areas in Naxalbari, including Raipara and Satbhaiya, have been submerged due to three consecutive days of heavy rainfall. On Saturday, Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad visited the affected areas to assess the situation.
The rainwater has accumulated on the roads, and houses have been inundated, causing problems for the residents. During his visit, Ghosh inquired about the well-being of the affected residents. He informed that funds have been allocated for drainage improvement. However, he mentioned that the lack of available land is hindering the drainage work.
Residents face waterlogging for 3-4 months every year, causing significant inconvenience. Ghosh advised the local residents to provide land to facilitate the construction of drainage systems for the benefit of the community.
