SMP Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh visits family of victim killed in elephant attack in Naxalbari

Naxalbari, 26th November: In efforts to curb the growing fatalities due to elephant attacks, the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad has considered planting fruit trees around the edges of the forest. This initiative has been decided to keep elephants confined to forest areas, reducing their contact with human settlements.

On Tuesday, Arun Ghosh, the Sabhadhipati of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, visited the home of a victim in the Gumguma Tea Estate under the Dumduma Division, who was recently killed in an elephant attack. The incident occurred on Monday when Bijay Nag was attacked by an elephant.

Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh was accompanied by Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad Deputy Chairperson Roma Rashmi Ekka and Council Member Kishori Mohan Singh. Ghosh expressed his condolences to the grieving family. He assured them that, in addition to government aid, the family would be provided with employment opportunities.

Bijay Nag’s brother, Sumit Nag, mentioned that Bijay was the family’s sole breadwinner. He appealed for financial assistance and a job, hoping the administration would provide support.
