Naxalbari, 07th July: On the day of Rath Yatra, Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad (SMP) pulled the rope of the traditional chariot to inaugurate the 54th year of celebrating the auspicious occasion in Naxalbari.
According to reports, on Sunday, Rath Yatras are carried out in several locations including Naxalbari. As part of the ceremony, Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh participated in the event along with a crown of devotees by pulling the chariot.
The secretary of the Naxalbari Rathkhola Rath Puja Committee, Satyanarayan Goswami, mentioned that the crowd is anticipated to grow in the evening. About 120 volunteers have been deployed, alongside CCTV cameras and police surveillance to ensure smooth operation of the event. Additionally, a fair with over 300 stalls is being held in alignment with the festival.
In this regard, Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh highlighted that the traditional Rath Yatra in Naxalbari will gather a large number of devotees and is the most popular chariot festival in the entire area.
