Siliguri, 10th June: The Surya Nagar Maidan of Siliguri is being provided for use by private organizations from time to time. In this regard, upon receiving several complaints, Siliguri Municipal Corporation’s (SMC’s) leader of the opposition, Amit Jain inspected the Maidan today.
According to reports, the Surya Nagar Maidan was being provided on rent to private organizations which allegedly resulted in the playground being damaged. Further, the potholes that emerged due to the programs are not being repaired. Following this, today, the ground was inspected by BJP leaders and workers including Amit Jain.
Speaking in this regard, Amit Jain expressed concerns with regard to the state of the ground following the organization of fairs and events. He further stated that the BJP party would undertake the initiative to improve the ground.
Meanwhile, Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb said that there should be no harm to the ground as out of 365 days in a year, the ground is used for sporting activities for 300 days. Additionally, he stated that plans are in progress to repair the ground and also build a boundary wall.
