Siliguri, 30th July: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has resumed its anti-encroachment drive, targeting unauthorized structures on Nivedita Road. The campaign, which began on Tuesday, faced opposition from local businessmen before commencing.
Reportedly, Municipal officials and workers proceeded to demolish encroaching shops along the roadside near Margaret School in Ward No. 02. The business owners expressed their displeasure with the SMC’s actions, claiming they received notice only a day prior and were not given adequate time to remove their shops.
So far, approximately 50 encroached shops have been removed as part of the drive.
