Siliguri, 12th February: Chaos was witnessed in Ward no-36 at the last phase of voting today. Police vehicles were vandalized. It has been alleged that BJP candidate Partho Vaidya pushed Trinamool candidate Ranjan Sil Sharma inside the booth.
From then on, an atmosphere of tension surfaced. Allegedly, the BJP candidate was detained in that booth at Shantinagar Primary School. After the incident, BJP MLA Shikha Chatterjee reached the spot to take stock of the situation. However, Trinamool started protesting as she is an outsider and also not a voter of the ward. Following this, a huge police force arrived. As soon as the BJP candidate was taken out of the booth and picked up in the police car, stones were hurled at the vehicle.
However, Ranjan Sil Sharma claimed that Trinamool is not involved in this incident.
