Siliguri, 16th December: An educational trip was organised on Tuesday for students of the ‘Alor Dishari Camp’ under the initiative of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The programme was flagged off in the morning from the Siliguri Boys’ High School premises by Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb.
MMICs, municipal officials, and teachers from the concerned schools were present during the flag-off ceremony. Around 225 students participated in the educational tour, with the North Bengal Science Centre in Matigara as the destination.
Throughout the day, students will be exposed to various science-based exhibitions, models, and hands-on activities at the Science Centre, providing them with practical learning experiences beyond classroom education. Arrangements were also made for breakfast and lunch for the students.
The initiative generated noticeable enthusiasm among the students. Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Gautam Deb said the objective of the programme was to take education beyond textbooks and provide real-life learning experiences.
He added that the students would spend the entire day at the North Bengal Science Centre observing and learning various subjects hands-on, and that he would personally be present to guide them.
