SMC launches operation to clear encroachments from roads and footpaths in Siliguri

Siliguri, 27th June: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has initiated a city-wide operation to clear encroachments from roads and footpaths. This move comes following strict directives from the Chief Minister.


Starting Thursday morning, SMC conducted raids in multiple areas of Siliguri. Key locations included Hospital More, Kachari Road, and Seth Srilal Market, where shops occupying pavements and roads were removed. Additionally, an illegal construction in Seth Srilal Market was also demolished.

Earlier, evacuation operations were conducted by various police stations in Siliguri on Wednesday. The raids were targeted to ensure unobstructed roads and footpaths for the citizens of Siliguri.

    Till the Elections they were legal. Actually the encroachments happened post Election. So Government has been very active in removing them.
    Blasphemy and Hypocrisy at its Heights.

    What about illegal Clubs which are built by forceful land grabbing by TMC itself ? These Clubs used by TMC members itself for their political agenda and threatening locals. Why not demolish them ?
