SMC introduces guppy fish to tackle dengue outbreak in Siliguri

Siliguri, 01st August: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has launched a new initiative to combat the outbreak of dengue by releasing guppy fish across the city.


On Thursday, Siliguri Mayor Gautam Deb officially inaugurated the guppy fish release program. Highlighting the increasing dengue cases in the city, the mayor emphasized that this initiative aims to tackle the issue at its onset. The guppy fish will be introduced into every water body and drainage system in the 47 wards with the assistance of the Fisheries Department.

The program commenced on Bidhan Road, with Mayor Gautam Deb, along with MMICs and other officials, marking the start of this dengue prevention strategy.
