SMC demolishes unauthorized construction in Ward No. 33 following High Court order

Siliguri, 24th January: Following the directions of the High Court, the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) launched an operation to demolish an unauthorized structure in Ward No. 33 of the city.


According to reports, a local in the neighborhood had filed a complaint with the SMC regarding the unauthorized structure. However, after no action was taken, the neighbor filed a petition in the High Court. Upon hearing the petition, the court directed the Municipal Corporation to demolish the unauthorized construction.

The building owner stated that a concrete room had been constructed in a space measuring three and a half feet on the first floor. The neighbor filed a complaint about this construction. In compliance with the High Court’s order, the Municipal Corporation team dismantled the unauthorized portion of the building.


Meanwhile, the lawyer representing the complainant noted that despite multiple complaints to the Municipal Corporation about the unauthorized construction, no action was taken. After the case was brought before the High Court, the court instructed the authorities to take strict action prompting the demolition.
