Siliguri, 18th September: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has continued its crackdown on encroachments and unauthorized constructions with a recent demolition campaign.
On Wednesday, the Municipal Corporation’s team demolished newly built illegal construction within an old building in Ward No. 06.
Reportedly, the building in question had initially secured permission from the Municipal Corporation for painting and repair work. However, it was alleged that the owner used this permit to carry out unauthorized construction, including the installation of a lift.
Upon discovering these violations, the SMC issued a notice demanding the removal of the illegal construction. When no action was taken by the building’s owner, the Municipal Corporation proceeded with a demolition campaign to remove the unauthorized additions. Additionally, instructions were given to close the lift installed without proper authorization.
